"The city of Valencia hides an interesting zoological ecosystem. One is of animated beings and another of inanimate beings in buildings and monuments.

Animated beings such as birds, insects, felines and small rodents, which are part of the urban fauna, are found in the large green spaces of the city, such as the Turia Garden and the Albufera. That of inanimate beings in buildings and monuments constitutes a rich ornamental iconography, made up of lions, parrots, bats and eagles."

La Albufera
"Very close to Valencia we find the La Albufera natural park, one of the most important and beloved in the Valencian Community.
Many animals live in La Albufera and it is a place of peace and rest on the annual journey of numerous migratory birds. In it you can take a boat ride and we can find in its waters the small samarucos, in danger of extinction, eels and also ducks and birds of many species, such as the famous mallards (collverds), red ducks (sivert), gray herons, common swarm (canyar gall) with its blue plumage and even flocks of flamingos that return from their trip to the south every year, giving a pink color to our precious lake."

The Lion
"When you arrive at the Town Hall Square you can feel the gaze, from the top of one of the buildings, of an imposing lion. But don't worry, don't be scared!
It is a large bronze lion, the work of the sculptor Salvador Arnau, which has been at the top of the Generali Vitalicio building since 1930. The lion, in addition to being a symbol of royalty, is a symbol of power and protection and that is why it is the image of this insurance company that has its headquarters in this building in Valencia.
But listen, have you stopped to think how many mascletás this lion must have seen from that privileged point? This lion is very lucky."

The Bat
"But in Animalencia there is an animal that is the most popular, the one that appears in all the photographs and images and the one that comes to mind when we talk about our city. Can you guess it? Yes, you guessed it right! The bat.< br> This animal is a symbol of the city due to its protective nature, which even appears on our shield and is displayed on top of our beloved Real Senyera. Did you know that he helped James I conquer Annimalencia? A symbol of good luck."

The parks of Animalencia
"In Animalencia we can also meet wild animals that have changed the African savannah or the Arctic Ocean for our city and our Mediterranean climate. But don't worry, you don't have to worry that they don't roam the streets like San Vicente. These animals are in two of the best Animal Parks in Europe that you can visit. Do you know which ones they are?
On one side we have the Bioparc, right next to the Cabecera park, where a world of animals makes us travel and walk through Africa in the style of the Lion King. Isn't it amazing? Also in Animalencia we have the Oceanographic, a large aquarium of fish from all oceans, with friendly jellyfish led by the large beluga Yulka who is always accompanied by her little Kylo. Do you know them?
In Animalencia there are also some sad moments. There are three animals, especially those that are from other countries, that are abandoned. That is why there is a hospital, Avifauna, in Nazaret, so that exotic animals can recover and continue smiling. Would you like to help them?"

Animalencia live
"But if there is a star animal that is seen the most on the streets in Animalencia, it is dogs and cats. They accompany us and make our walks around the city more entertaining. In addition, we feel safe and we know that they will never deceive us.. They are faithful companions with whom to share our secrets and intimacies.
We can also find other animals that fill our parks, gardens and trees with life. Do you want to meet them? They are the little sparrows, the squirrels from the old bed of the Túria, the magpies that have very shamelessly been gaining ground in the city and of course, the parrots, those birds that do not stop talking and that by chance arrived, making Animalencia their home. .
But of course, in Animalencia there are also some animals that are less pleasant and that we don't like at all, especially if we come across them at night. They are rats and cockroaches, those small animals that are so funny that they are always ready to give passersby a good scare. Will you be next?"

Urban animals
"At Animalencia, animals are essential and very important and that is why we have always liked to decorate and finish important buildings with them. Do you want to know some of them?
If you walk through Valencia you will find the parakeet of the Central Market, which does not miss any gossip, the Bird of the Church of Sant Joan del Mercado, which carries the evangelist's inkwell all day, the great eagle of the North Station, that controls the passage of all the trains, the stork at the old Alameda maternity hospital or the dolphins on the Malvarrosa promenade. Isn't that amazing?
But we cannot miss the two most representative sculptures of Animalencia, works by the Valencian sculptor Miguel Navarro. They are the famous Pink Panther, very close to the Ruzafa neighborhood, and the Partotet, next to the City of Arts. Do you know that the two were not originally thought of as animals? However, today, the inhabitants of Animalencia already have them on our list of favorite and representative animals of the city."
